Major Smith is the son of Lin & Glen Pugh and Cloyd Smith, Sr., both of Butler. He is on active duty and among his many accomplishments in the military, he is an Army Ranger. After completing his Masters Degree at Texas A&M, he moved to New York to teach at West Point. While he was there, he volunteered for a year of service in Iraq. He has 2 young daughters, Caitlyn and Chloe living near Butler. His siblings are Stella Smith, Debra Reep both of Butler, and Frank Smith of Elizabethtown, PA.
