This week's student athlete of the week is Butler High School's Mara Shingleton. A sophomore on the Butler Girls golf team, Shingleton is leading the way in the first-year program. After the first nine matches, the Tornado has a 7-2 record, with Shingleton being the low scorer in eight of the nine matches. Mara's lowest round to date is a 41, and her average is 42.5. She began golfing just two years ago and qualified for the WPIAL Championships as a freshman. She is the current Butler Country Jr. Amateur Champion, and was a tri-state PGA Jr. top ten player selection at the Player of the Year Tournament.
