In high school sports last night, the defending Class AA boys’ soccer champs the Mars Planets defeated No. 6 ranked Hampton by a final score of 5-3.  Ryan McKenzie scored twice to help lead the Planets to the win.  In other boys’ soccer action, Freeport and Kittanning battled to a 3-3 tie and Kiski Area defeated Knoch by a final score of 3-1.  In girls’ soccer action Knoch defeated Schenley by a final score of 4-0.  In girls’ tennis, it was Butler over Hampton 4-1, North Allegheny defeated Mars 5-0, North Hills defeated Seneca Valley 3-2 and Pine-Richland shut out the Knoch Knights 5-0.  In girls’ volleyball, Butler defeated North Hills 3-0, Mars shutout Ambridge by a final of 3-0 and Freeport also gets a shut out by beating Burrell 3-0.  In boys’ golf action yesterday, Butler defeated Mars 179-217 and Freeport defeated Ford City 218-222.
