McMurray Wins at Indy Print E-mail

The Brickyard 400 is one of the NASCAR Sprint Cup series big three races, and nobody has been better at big races this season than Jamie McMurray – he proved that again yesterday as he took the lead following a late race caution and held off Kevin Harvick to win at Indianapolis – and kiss the bricks.

McMurray also won the Daytona 500 at the start of the season.

McMurray’s teammate Juan Pablo Montoya had the best car all day but when everyone pitted on lap 140, Montoya elected to take 4 tires while six other drivers, including McMurray, took only two and beat the Target chevy off pit road.  Montoya would crash five laps later setting up McMurray’s restart pass of Harvick to set up the victory.

It was also a big win for car owner Chip Ganassi, who in addition to McMurray’s big wins, also won the Indianapolis 500 in May with driver Dario Franchitti.

The Sprint Cup series comes back to Pennsylvania this weekend at Pocono International Raceway.
