The Butler County Board of Commissioners announced today that they have released the valuation report for Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Carbis Walker, LLP of Pittsburgh, prepared the report, which is 26 pages in length, and presented it to commissioners at the end of September.  In its conclusion, the firm determined that Sunnyview has a fair market value of $7.08 million, or the value of its net assets.  And in the report's computation of investment value, it says that Sunnyview's cost structure exceeded the total average costs for all companies within its industry, and the average total cost for non-profits.

The report went on to say that Sunnyview's nursing, director of nursing, related clerical staff, dietary and food, laundry and linens, and housekeeping costs significantly exceeded its peer groups.  The report also said that Sunnyview would begin to generate positive net income if those costs were brought into line.

But the report also indicated that if per-bed prices were raised substantially, this could also generate positive net revenue.

Sunnyview has lost an average of a million dollars a year over the past several years.
