The Seneca Valley School Board met for its regular monthly meeting Monday night, and heard input from four residents concerning a problematic bus route in Jackson Township.

The route in question involves Bus 254, which transports students from Evans City Elementary School to Ehrman Farms and Gristmill Lane via Pattison Road Extension.  On Monday, February 22nd, that bus got stuck in the snow, stranding students along Pattison Road Extension.  The bus was stuck along a winding, steep and narrow portion of that road, which has no guide rail.  Board member Anthony Storti, who's on the board's transportation committee, said that the issue is being addressed.

In other business, the voted unanimously to reject the approximately $4.2 million budget for the Butler County Vo-Tech School.  The board did so on the advice of member Joe Scalamogna, who sits on the Vo-Tech's Joint Operating Committee.  Scalamogna made his recommendation based on cloudy language surrounding money intended for the school's improvement project.  He added that if the state Department of Education approves the construction project, the money becomes part of the school's operating budget, which could affect the district's annual expected contribution.

Finally, the board voted to adopt revisions to its calendar for the current school year.  The district had seven snow days to be made up from January and February, but it will not necessitate the lengthening of the school year.  The last day of class for seniors is still Friday, June 4th, with the final day of classes on Friday, June 11th.  June 14th and 15th will be Act 80 and in-service days for teachers, respectively.
