The Butler Area School Board held its agenda setting meeting last night.

Among the action items, the board approved a food service contract for 6 full-time and 70 part-time food service employees. The contract is from July 1st through June 30, 2015 and is funded through the Food Service Department.

The board also voted to approve 3 chaperones and 32 students for a trip to Tokyo, Japan from April 1st through the 9th.

In other business, the district has announced that it will join the National Joint Powers Alliance. This would allow the district to save money on purchases such as materials for the Administration Building's renovation project.

Finally, LINC Services will begin an energy savings project while doing renovations at the Administration Building.  Many districts in Butler County have enrolled in such programs, largely through changing the usage habits by staff and students, and through the use of energy efficient windows and lighting systems.
